Parrotfish Balsa Ornament

Parrotfish are beautiful, brightly colored fish, and they are important residents on coral reefs. They spend 90% of their day eating the algae and coral on the reef, which is actually cleaning the reef. This allows the corals to grow and thrive. Parrotfish contribute to the sand on beaches by pooping out the remnants of the coral.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
