Stingray Balsa Ornament

Stingrays are flat fish with no bones. Their skeleton is made up of cartilage. Their eyes are on the topside of their body and their mouth and gills underneath. Fossil records date the stingray back to the Jurassic period (150 million years ago).

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
