Collection: Balsa Ornaments

On a remote island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua these wild and wonderful balsa ornaments come to life. There are no roads or cars on the island, and just this year each resident was given a small solar panel for limited electricity. The artisans sustainably harvest the balsa from the island.  Each ornament is hand-carved, first using a machete and then a carving knife.  They then bring their lightweight designs to life by perfectly painting them.  With over 250 species and still going, the artisans are not only excited about new species but appreciative of the opportunity to do this work.

These ornaments are not just for Christmas trees.  Hang them in a window, place them on a bookshelf, or decorate your room.  These are too cute to put away 11 months of the year!
