Wilson's Plover Balsa Ornament

Wilson's plover is a shorebird that rarely leaves the coastal region. They are easily recognized by their black bill. You can find them as the tide goes out, running toward their favorite meal, the fiddler crab. Once they catch the crab, they shake it to remove the legs before swallowing it whole!

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
