Wood Frog Balsa Ornament

This frog freezes during the winter, literally. They produce a substance similar to antifreeze that keeps their cells safe, but the frog freezes externally. As the weather gets warmer, the wood frog thaws and then goes about its business as usual.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
