Great Purple Hairstreak Balsa Ornament

The great purple hairstreak butterfly lives in southern North America. Butterflies have host plants where they complete their life cycle. The great purple hairstreak only has one, the invasive mistletoe plant.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
