The karner blue butterfly lives in the northeastern US and near the Great Lakes. Larvae feed only on the wild lupine plant which is not as plentiful as it once was, causing the karner blue butterfly to become endangered. Its lifespan is about 5 days.
Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
