Green and Black Poison Dart Frog Balsa Ornament

This bright little frog lives near streams on the rainforest floor. Its color is a toxic warning to predators. Their long sticky tongues quickly snatch up spiders and insects. Their toxic secretions are being studied as an alternative to morphine without any of the bad side effects.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
