Siamese Cat Balsa Ornament

Siamese cats' distinct markings are determined not only by inherited genes but also by the temperature. They are born entirely white, and at about 4 weeks, temperature based pigments begin to dictate their colors and patterns. Their bodies are lighter because the area is warmer and extremities, being colder, are darker.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
