Mallard Duck Balsa Ornament

Mallards are dabbling ducks, ducks that feed both at the surface and tipping up (head down and tail straight up out of the water). The male mallard, the "drake," is more colorful with an irridescent green head, while the female, the "hen," has more muted colors.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
