Butterfly Jewelry

The life of the butterfly is brief, yet the sight of them is a delight.  Colorful and delicate,  butterflies symbolize a deep and powerful representation of life and hope. Butterfly wings are covered in tiny scales, and they are the only insects with scaly wings. Each scale on the butterfly’s wing is a single color - yellow,  red, white or black. When you see a green or blue butterfly wing, those colors are created by light refracting (bending) on the butterfly's wing.  The underside of the butterfly wing is usually muted in color (ventral side) and  is seen when wings are closed for predator avoidance, whereas the top side (dorsal) of their wings are brightly colored to attract mates.
