Collection: Decorative Ceramics

Women of the Cloud Forest works with several family workshops in the town of San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua, a community of over 6000 ceramic potters. With so much local competition and limited tourism, every workshop seems to be looking for an opportunity for a fair and steady market. Artisans use local clay to create amazing pieces on a kick wheel (which is foot-driven not electric).  They carefully hand-paint each piece and allow it to dry before using a sharpened bicycle spoke to carve and etch the intricate designs into the clay. The piece is then ready to be fired in a wood burning kiln. We are excited to offer these limited edition decorative pieces.  They are true works of art.
