Bay-breasted warblers eat insects and berries, but they especially love spruce budworms, a forest pest responsible for damaging many acres of fir and spruce trees. When there is an outbreak of the spruce budworms, it is estimated that a bay-breasted warbler can eat almost 13,000 budworms in a little over a month!
Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
