Common Loon Balsa Ornament

Loons are excellent diving and swimming birds, however they are not too coordinated on land, hence the name. This compact bird has a wing span as big as that of a red-tailed hawk and it can fly up to 60 mph. The loon has solid bones, allowing it to dive easily and quickly.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
