Known as the unicorn of the sea, the Narwhal is a mammal closely related to the Beluga Whale. The males have an ivory tusk which is actually a tooth. It is a sensory organ that can detect changes in the environment that may help them to find food.
Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
