Scarlet Tanager Balsa Ornament

Scarlet tanagers are some of the hardest birds to spot because they hide high within the trees. You may have a chance to spot the males with their gorgeous red body and black wings and tail, while the female is a muted greenish-yellow, even harder to see. A group of tanangers is called a "season."

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
