Cedar waxwings are named for the waxy red tips on the end of their secondary feathers. They love fruit and have to be careful not to get drunk eating overripe berries. They eat in shifts which is very civilized and polite for birds. A group of waxwings is called an "ear-full" or a "museum" of waxwings.
Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
