Dalmatian Balsa Ornament

In the past, dalmations ran alongside stage coaches and cleared the way so that the horses could get through. Later, fire departments adopted them and people would refer to them as "fire dogs." Dalmations are born completely white, and their spots begin to apppear when they are two weeks old. No two coats are alike! These dogs are lively, energentic, and thrive on human companionship.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
