Husky Balsa Ornament

Siberian huskies are bred by the Chukchi (Siberian Indigenous people) to be sled dogs in extremely brutal temperatures. The Chukchi people relied on these dogs and they became integral to their society and culture. According to Chukchi beliefs there are 2 huskies at the gates of heaven who turn away anyone who was cruel to a dog during their life on Earth.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
