Honduran White Bat Balsa Ornament

The honduran white bat is also referred to as the "tent bat" because they build tents from leaves that they cut with their teeth. This bat has a distinctive look with white fur and yellow leaf shaped ears and nose. Sadly, they are a threatened species as their population is in decline.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
