Ivory-billed Woodpecker Balsa Ornament

The ivory-billed woodpecker is presumed to be extinct, but unconfirmed sightings have been made in the past few years. It's considered "lost" — a designation that acknowledges that the species may not be extinct, but that it has no known surviving wild or captive populations.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
