Orangutan Balsa Ornament

Orangutans share 97% of our DNA. The word orangutan comes from the Malay words “orang hutan,“ meaning “human of the forest." Deforestation, palm oils, poaching and fires have put them on the critically endangered list.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
