Red-headed Woodpecker Balsa Ornament

You guessed it, the red-headed woodpecker gets its name from its red head. These birds have a black and white coloring and when they fly, they look like a checkerboard. They are expert hunters of insects, but will eat fruit, berries, nuts, spiders and earthworms.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
