Sailfish Balsa Ornament

Sailfish are named for their dorsal fin which resembles a sail. They are known to hunt together using their dorsal fins to create a barrier around their prey. Sailfish can clock speeds of up to 70 mph, making them the fastest fish in the world. They are also one of the most prized fish amongst fishermen because they are so hard to catch.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
