Snowy Owl Balsa Ornament

Snowy owls live in the Arctic and travel south for the winters. There are only an estimated 30,000 snowy owls left in the world. These owls are almost completely covered in feathers to keep them warm and they have bristles on their beaks to help them sense nearby objects. Their food of choice is the lemming, a small rodent in the Arctic.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
