Violet Sabrewing Hummingbird Balsa Ornament

The violet saberwing is a large brilliantly colored hummingbird. The variety of sharp violets, greens, blacks, blues, and whites mixed with dark forest-green feathers provides excellent camouflage in forested areas. Sabrewing refers to the thick striking shafts on its outer feathers. Its long and curved bill is perfect for drinking nectar. These gem-like hummingbirds are excellent pollinators.

Made out of sustainably harvested balsa wood, these lightweight ornaments are hand-carved and then painted with non-toxic acrylic paint by a cooperative of skilled artisans on Isla Solentiname, Nicaragua. Approximate size: 5" x 2".
